Birders,
Took a walk through Duke Forest on my way to work this morning and found
a nice mix of summer & winter birds. Enjoyed seeing a pretty good-sized
flock of robins, flickers, & sapsuckers chowing down dogwood "berries".
Other birds of moderate interest were:
Am. Kestrel - high overhead flyby
E. Phoebe - 3
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Gray Catbird
Blue-headed Vireo
Orange-crowned Warbler - 2 (not very common in Duke Forest)
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 4
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 6
Prairie Warbler - still hanging around
Scarlet Tanager
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
White-throated Sparrow - 6
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird - flock of 40 flyby
Common Grackle - flock of 500 flew in, paused, & flew on
