Today at the Mt. Pisgah Hawk Watch ... 10/22/99

Two stalwart observers braved the cold winds today to see the birds
moving ahead of the Arctic mass bearing down on us. While today's
numbers weren't exactly fabulous, this does represent the first
significant movement of Red-tails so far this season. The next few days
should be very interesting. Here's what has been reported to me so far:

total hours -- 7

Sharp-shinned Hawk -- 3
Cooper's Hawk -- 2
Red-tailed Hawk -- 5

Thanks to Ray "Iron Man" (NOT Rev. Al) Sharpton and Greg Townsend for
putting in their time today on the mountain. With weather like this,
could the Golden Eagles be far behind?
