SC Saw-whet Owl not relocated

The Northern Saw-whet Owl found by Robin Carter on Monday, November 15,
was not relocated on Tuesday despite attempts by several birders, at
least one of whom had seen it the day before. So probably it has moved
to another area or has selected another tree to roost in.

A few people have asked how Robin found this owl. He was out birding at
lunchtime in Harbison State Forest, hoping to find a Red-breasted
Nuthatch. He was checking out each bird in an agitated flock of
Brown-headed Nuthatches when he noticed the owl that had apparently
upset them. If a flock is upset (and you are not the cause), it is
sometimes productive to try to track down what they might be mobbing.
