New Road & Conway Sewage Ponds

Hi Carolinabirders,
On Tuesday, Dec. 7 I birded solo at New Road and the adjoining Conway
Sewage Ponds.
29 species were tallied. Today I was at Gary Phillips house when Suzanne
Campbell banded his hummingbird which measured out as a hatching year
female Ruby-throated. It didn't take long at all. The hummer showed up
almost immediately. I was impressed with the speed and skill of the bander
as she completed the process in about 10 minutes. Gary's mom was thrilled
as Suzanne put the banded bird on her palm and it stayed there a moment
until Suzanne scratched it's back and the Ruby-throat noisily flew off. I
wish Gary could have been there but he had to work.
