Litchfield-Pawleys Island CBC

Hi Carolinabirders,
The Litchfield-Pawleys Island CBC	has probably recorded a record count
which could be anywhere from 160 to 165 species. It was a great pleasant
day despite the waterfowl hunters on the North jetty shooting over
navigable waters! Do sea ducks really taste that good! Both the Common
Eider and Reddish Egret were found as well as a count first 2 Eurasian
Collared Dove. Dennis and Donna Forsythe had a flock of Vesper Sparrow.
The first bird of the day was a probable Whip-poor-will that almost became
a specimen. A number of outstanding birds were reported from the Samworth
Wildlife Management Area. The reporter is an experienced birder from New
England but unknown to myself or Tonya. He was not at the roundup. I spoke
to him on the phone and will await the hand delivered details. Some of us
will be looking for these birds at Samworth today and tomorrow.-All are
possible but there is no winter record in the state for one of the birds.
More later this week.
