*Here is my orginal post. It was sent at 7:55 PM last night to
Carolinabirds (according to my date/time stamp) but must have fallen into
an email void. Glad I sent that second message-that did make it -and got a
lot of folks' attention!
Carolinabirders,
Below is a message I just received from friend and ornithologist Ted Simons
in the Zoology Department at NCSU. I wish that I could check it out myself
in the morning since it would not be too hard to spot and a fantastic State
Bird for me...
I hope somebody can go take a look and post their findings tomorrow! I
apologize if you all get two copies of the map. I was uncertain if Ted's
orginal attachment would carry over when forwarded to the Listserv. Never
done this before.
*IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that this is unverified and most likely involves
private property:

>Just had a call from Mr. L. Bunn 919-231-0369 who said he was out hunting
>yesterday and saw a Snowy Owl. He says he has seen many Snowy Owls in
>Canada and was quite sure it was not a Barn or some other owl. Says it was
>very big and white. If anybody is interested in checking it out I have
>attached a map. Directions: take 401 to Louisburg, 561 out of Louisburg to
>Wood. Take Collinsville road south from Wood just past where power lines
>cross road (about 2 mi.) Bird was roosting in pines on right near power
>lines (my best guess is marked with an X on the map).
