Dear Ken,
Moncks Corner (named for the English Restoration fighter George Monck),
is an excellent Spring location, having the Santee Canal State Park in town
and the wonderfully diverse Francis Marion National Forest adjacent (see any
map).
Great habitat for both Kites, Bachman's Sparrow, Red-cockaded Woodies,
swamp, pinewoods etc. You get the idea. You don't have to leave the 40 mile
radius
around the small city to bird very productively. Good birding!
