Took a trip to Francis Beidler Swamp and canoed for the 1st four hours of
the day. then went to Santee NWR for a quick walk. Birding was good, but this
is the best place to test your birding by ear.
62 species were observed, here are the more interesting ones.
Anhinga
Green backed heron
Cattle Egrets- numerous, 50 + in the fields at the entrance
Wood Stork - 1 soaring
White Ibis - a flock of about 50 were feeding in the swamp
Osprey - I dont know if this is out of the ordinary, but about 6 or 7 were
flying together over Lake Marion.
Barred OWL - calling in the middle of the day
Great Crested Flycatcher
Acadian FlycATCHER
