Carolinabirders,
I know some of you are have birded Kennesaw Mt. during migration
and/or vacationed on Jekyll or St. Simon's Islands in Georgia. If
you have ever birded Georgia or planning to in the future, you will
find this newly released guide, "Birding Georgia", a wealth of
information. The book was written by Giff Beaton from Marietta, GA.
It has more than 100 birding sites described with specific directions,
each site has a map, tells you when and where to bird, has a
section with over 300 species with detailed information on when
and where to find them, and revised bar graphs that show exact
occurrence in the state's four major regions. There is also a web
site with up-to-the-minute information on all sites. Check out the
web site;
http://www.gos.org/birdinggeorgia.html
The book is available so far from Falcon Books and can be found at
several online bookstores like Amazon and Borders. The book is
also available from GOS (Georgia Ornithological Society), at a
reduced price (see link on web site above) and ABA should have it
shortly.
Good Birding, lex
