The White-winged Dove at Susan Arrington's house was calling away
yesterday--16th--AM. We suspect that it is not paired, and may be the last
survivor of the 1998 invasion.
While baby-sitting a tern-skimmer colony in Beaufort Inlet yesterday, I saw
several adult Black Terns in breeding/near breeding plumage.
At Bird Shoal, I saw a "long-billed" curlew. It turned out to be a Whimbrel
with an extremely long (and slightly deformed) bill. I'll be it was at the
very upper limit of bill length for a Whimbrel.
