Rufous Hummer banded in South Carolina

On 2 September 2000, I banded a first-year male Rufous Hummingbird at
Richburg, South Carolina. The bird had been seen for about a week
prior to banding and was last observed on 4 September. I believe this
is the first Rufous sighting/banding in South Carolina this fall.

An account of the banding and several photos of the bird are
available at the Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History
website at http://www.hiltonpond.org . Click on "This Week at Hilton
Pond" and go to the week of 1-7 September.

Cheers,

BILL
