Richland county NAMC

Due to some last minute changes in county assignments, Richland county,
including Congaree Swamp National Monument, is not being counted for
tomorrow's North American Migration Count. Congaree Swamp can be a real
migrant hotspot, particularly after the passage of fronts, such as is
happening today. Last year, the only Bicknell's Thrush to be counted in SC
for the Fall NAMC was detected during nocturnal listening in Richland
county. If anyone is interested in birding and counting birds at Congaree
Swamp and perhaps other parts of Richland county tomorrow, I would very
much like to hear from you off-list. I can give you some suggestions on
places and trails I have always found most productive, especially for
migrant warblers and other woodland birds.

You don't have to be an expert birder to help with or even to lead a count.
General knowledge of your area's birds and the ability to identify the
"strange birds" with a field guide are all that is necessary to help with
the North American Migration Count.

Again, please reply to me if you would like to assist with this Fall's NAMC
in Richland county.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer!
