On Friday, 9/22 there was a flock of 65 PB Grebes on Lake Junaluska in Haywood
County and another 60+/- at Lake Julian in Buncombe County (southern NC
mountains). It's quite unusual to see large flocks of PB Grebes like this
around here. The weather was rainy and foggy, so I guess they decided to wait
here until conditions improved.
Warbler watching was very good in Henderson County on Saturday with
Tennessees still being the dominant species.
