Hi folks, (reply to capito@hotmail.com)
I returned to the carolina bay on the Savannah River Site (New Ellenton, SC)
that had the 2 Nelson's S-tailed Sparrows. No deal this time. What I did
have were 12 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS (even mix of juv. and adults), 4 Unid.
AMMODRAMUS, 2 SAVANNAH SPARROWS, 1 VESPER SPARROW and 20++ MEADOWLARKS.
These were all seen in an area of about 75 acres in size (of the 350ac bay).
When the grass is knocked down by winter winds etc I could see this area
perhaps being good for Horned Larks, Pipits and Longspurs.
Cheers
Paul Champlin
