On November 17 at Dreher Island State Park in Newberry County, SC I saw a
fair sampling of waterfowl from the causeway entering the park. Present
included a raft of ten lesser scaup, six bufflehead, four ring-necked ducks
and a pair of redheads; as well as the typical mallards. 3000+ coots covered
the water, bald eagle, common loons and a greater yellowlegs feeding in the
shallows. This site is sometimes productive, particularly in winter when
boat traffic is down.
