Just curious, can someone tell me where the name 'Mango' derives
from, or are all Central/South American hummers called Mangos (and if so,
why)?
A few days ago someone asked for speculation about how the li'l
fellow arrived here and I haven't seen much discussion of that.
Though not impossible, seems far too out of range to have
merely lost his way. Is it not much more likely he/she got stuck in
a truck-van somewhere around Texas/Mex. and then released up this way (I'd
imagine there's a lot of trucker traffic 'tween here and there), or are
there even more likely explanations???
For any UNCers, Mr. Barred Owl has returned to breeding grounds
on UNC quad a couple of wks. early and seems to be setting up
territory while waiting for his beloved to show up.
