Last week someone posted a question about chimney swifts nesting in side
openings. I didn't save the message expecting some postings in reply.
Haven't seen any so wondered if anyone responded privately to this RFI. I'm
in a similar situation and wondered if they could gain access if the sides of
the new hood/cap were cut open. I've only seen the dive straight into our
chimney in years past.
Every evening the past few nights I've seen them flying low over our house
and I know they are looking for their familiar roost. How I hate that we had
to put the cap on but some part of the inner workings were beginning to rust.
