Great morning

Had a great morning. I woke up to find two black-and-white warblers in a
tree right off the deck (our deck is forty feet up, so we're nearly at
treetop level), and then a red-eyed vireo right behind them. The hooded
warbler, much heard, not yet seen, was also singing.
In the front, the song sparrow that nests on our bank was singing away. Then
he'd jump up on our truck bumber, and peck at his reflection in the chrome.
After a while, I put a piece of carpet on the bumper so he wouldn't knock
himself silly.
Last week I saw a bluebird doing a similar routine. He'd briefly land on a
truck window, fluttering to hold on to his precarious perch, then peck at
the side mirror. After a second or two, he'd lose his footing and start
again. The amount of dropping on the truck door indicated that this had been
going on for a while.

This is my first spring as a birder, having just gotten into the hobby in
November. Spring is certainly a great time!
