Once, on a fall North America Migration count, I recorded a Little Blue
Heron at Lake Wateree in Fairfield county, SC. Like Shantanu, I was so
surprised to see the bird that I double-checked field marks (it was an
immature). Had it been late July rather than mid-September, I would not
have been quite so surprised. We do get a few oddball waders in the lower
Piedmont during post-breeding dispersal from late June through late July -
and apparently at other times, too.
