FBC Trip to Curtis Creek and Mt. Mitchell

The Foothills Bird Club will be having a field trip along Curtis Creek Road
and up to Mt. Mitchell this coming Saturday, May 19th. We will meet in the
parking lot of the Holiday Inn on the Lenoir-Rhyne Blvd (exit 125) off of
Interstate 40 at 7:00am. We will have lunch at the restaurant at Mt.
Mitchell---or if you prefer, you can bring a lunch. Any and everyone is
free to join us, but we will need to carpool as much as possible.

We should see lots of good warblers as we make our way up this scenic forest
service road. Dwayne and I scouted the area last week and had the following
on our way up: Northern Parula, Hooded, Louisiana Waterthrush, Kentucky,
Pine, Prairie, Chestnut-sided, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green,
Black-and-white, American Redstart, Worm-eating, Ovenbird, Common
Yellowthroat, and Canada Warblers. We will, of course, listen carefully for
a Swainson's Warbler which we've had on several other trips here. We'll
also try the Craggy Gardens area for Golden-winged Warbler and if time
allows, we'll go down the parkway towards Asheville for Cerulean Warblers.
We hope to see some of you there!
