Owlet has landed!

Bamboozled again! -- tonight while checking campus owl nesthole,
believing babies might emerge by end of week, I discovered a well-feathered,
nice-sized owlet in tree 20 ft. away (looked to have been out for 10-14 days
already!). At one point he fell from tree landing
15 ft.in front of me where he stood and stared for 10 mins. before
climbing back up tree mountaineer-style; a half-dozen folks got to watch the
show, while the parents perched nearby monitoring the situation.
Anyway, in an hour of watching I could find no additonal babies, but
anyone who frequents area can keep an eye out for others. Parents
and baby should be hanging around now in full daylight for several weeks
while youngster learns to make his way in the world.
And another reminder for anyone not familiar with it that
www.owlcam.com has fascinating pics/storylines of barred owls nesting in
manmade box over last several yrs, including 3 babies this season.
