Eyed Click Beetle--Alaus. There are several species, including A
oculatus. None of my sources say which are found in this area. (Was
that in NC? Wasn't clear from your narrative--Olmito Fish Hatchery.)

the big pretty Longhorn, looks close to Plinthocoelium suaveolens,
which is illustrated in White, Field Guide to the Beetles of North
America (Houghtom Mifflin, 1983, Peterson Guide #29), plate 10. Not
sure about this one. This is a good reference if you are interested
in beetles--has lots of illustrations. Borror, Field Guide to the
Insects, is also useful. It has lots of illustrations of stuff from
eastern North America.
