My parents and I went out to the sod farm in Scotland Neck, NC today from about 4 to 5pm. A list of the shorebirds seen follows.
Killdeer (>80)
Semipalmated Plover (3)
Short-billed Dowitcher (identified by call, ~30)
Greater Yellowlegs (identified by size to dows, 1)
Pectoral Sandpiper (>50)
Buff-breasted Sandpiper (1)
Upland Sandpiper (1)
Solitary Sandpiper (1)
Plenty of Starlings, some Blue Grosbeaks, a few Indigo Buntings, Barn Swallows, and a Red-shouldered Hawk were also present.
