Caesar's Head Hawk Watch 9/7/01

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Hooray! We got BIRD(s)!
Our first bird of the season, a Cooper's, came by Wednesday. Yesterday's
total added up to 1, a Broad-winged. With 5 pairs of eyes, trained,
strained and bloodshot, in 6 hrs. today, we tallied 4 migrant raptors.

Broad-winged 2
N. Harrier 1
Turkey Vulture 1

Counters today included Hilda Reece, Reece Mitchell, Tim Lee, an unnamed
young man from Brevard and myself.

Yesterday, Reece and I saw an unusual flight of 12 geese in a nice "V"
heading South. Reece felt pretty sure they were Snow Geese. You just never
know what's going to show up.

Caesar's Head State Park is conducting their annual introduction to hawk
watching program on the 15th and 22nd of September. The program begins at
10:00 a.m. at the overlook. Please contact the park at
caesars_head_sp@scprt.com or (864) 836-6115 2 days prior to register.

Good Birding to All!
