Good numbers of migrants were around Sunday, Monday on Roanoke Island. Seen
were plenty of Redstarts, Palm Warblers, some Myrtles, Magnolias, Black &
Whites, Parulas, Cape Mays, Black-throated Blues, a few Black-throated
Greens, Pines, Common Yellowthroats, a Chestnut-sided, a Blackpoll. Also,
Indigo Buntings, Yellow-throated Vireo, Wood Thrush, Swainson's Thrush,
Gray-cheeked Thrush, Blue-Grosbeak, Brown Creeper, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker,
Baltimore Oriole, Phoebe, Red-breasted Nuthatches, both Kinglets. Also had a
fly-by Dickcissel.
The Aralia berries outside the Elizabethan Gardens on the west side are a
big hit right now. Cape Mays and Black-throated Blues are camped out on them
this morning, real good looks can be had.
Good birding - Jeff Lewis, Manteo, NC
