Lincoln's Sparrows at Lake Don T. Howell

Six Lincoln's Sprws were seen on and about the scrub-shrouded b-w fence on
the west (right) edge of Shimpock Rd., just off Hwy 136 (Mooresville Hwy)
this morning at 0930. Other birds of interest seen on the reservoir this
and yesterday morning include Am Pipits (6 today, 33 yesterday - same time),
Palm Warblers (in the scrub just inside the guard rail near the utility
building south of the bridge on the east shore, a single R-C Kinglet in the
same area -- and out on the water and flats: a single Stilt SP, single
Lesser Yellowlegs, 7 Common Snipe, and lots of Peeps and other shorebirds
and waders and ducks including G-w Teal, Shovelers, and Ruddy Dux. The
Peeps and other shorebirds are somewhat hard to identify precisely from Hwy
136 in the morning if the sun shines brightly. Too much contrast - even
with a good scope. We need an overcast day to provide less contrasty
lighting.
