Hi Folks,
I just figured I'd pass on info regarding the push of western species into
the estern US over the last few days. I wouldn't call it an invasion but
more of a strong, but typical, fall wave.
There's the Sprague's Pipit, Western Kingbird and Couch's/TK in NC, all
found whithin the last week.
There have been a good number of other Western Kingbirds seen this week.
(Ontario, NY, FL, and several in MA)
There are Townsend's Solitaire in MI, Ontario and Indiana where there is
also an Ancient Murrelet.
The Hammond's Flycatcher in NY has been eaten by a Merlin, but still a good
bird (Mon/Tues of this week).
Vermillon Flycatcher in Montréal (yesterday).
There are Ash-throated Flycatchers in NH, FL and NJ.
NJ also has had Swainson's Hawk and Black-chinned Hummer this week.
FL is (or was) also playing host to Surfbird, Thayer's Gull, Western Tanager
and Black-headed Grosbeak this week.
There are more than normal numbers of Eared Grebes, Avocets and White
Pelicans being reported as well.
SO HERE'S THE QUESTION.... WHERE ARE THESE BIRDS IN SC or GA?!?!?
Cheers
Paul Champlin
New Ellenton, SC
