Ducks arrive in Wake County



Wintering waterfowl continue to arrive at the lakes and ponds in southern
Wake County.  A check at lunchtime today produced seven species including
the first large raft of Ring-necks.

1010 Pond- 225 Ring-necked Ducks, 12 American Wigeon, 15 Mallard, 1 Gadwall
Lake Wheeler- 1 Ruddy Duck, 1 Pied-billed Grebe
West Lake- 3 Ring-necked Duck, 2 Mallard
Private impoundment- 8 Bufflehead, 15 Northern Shoveler, 2 Ring-necked
Duck, 6 Mallard
