A Cory's Shearwater was observed at close range from above as it flew east
along the beachfront at Holden Beach at 1330 hours. The bird continued
towards Long Beach (Oak Island). Bird was flying 2-5 feet above the breakers
all the way "up" the beach.
The LARGE size and no white on tail from above were easily observed. Much
too large to be Sooty - definitely larger than Greater Shearwater which would
also show white from above.
Hope others will seee this bird.
