Lincoln's Sparrow and imm. Bald Eagle

Dear Blue Ridge Birders and carolinabirds:

Yesterday an immature first year Bald Eagle was apparently roosting at the
US 221 Access of New River State Park in Ashe County. It flew out ot the
woods on the cliff on the south bank of the New at about 10:00 AM, spiralled
up and disappeared to the south.

Later, on Willie Brown Road on the North Fork of the New in Ashe, an
unexpected Lincoln's Sparrow showed up with a flock of Song and Field
Sparrows in heavy weeds. All were responding to a Screech Owl tape. Fairly
cooperative bird, in good view with excellent light for nearly a minute.

Virtually NO waterfowl on the New River at this time.
