Falls Lake birding report 11 Sep 02

Birders,

This morning I birded Falls Lake in Durham (Redwood Rd. RR trestle,
Hickory Hill boat ramp and Panther Creek peninsula) and Wake (Olive Grove
Ch. Rd. peninsula) Counties, NC. While it's always fun to go birding, I
was disappointed to find no rarities. Still it was nice to see my first
migrant Magnolia Warbler of the season. And a total count of over 200
Great Egrets is good for inland. Where are the other waders? (Too bad
the Sacred Ibis didn't show up!) Here's the wader and shorebird list.

70 Great Blue Heron
210 Great Egret
39 Killdeer
5 Semipalmated Plover
6 Pectoral Sandpiper
70 Least Sandpiper
5 Semipalmated Sandpiper
1 Western Sandpiper
2 White-rumped Sandpiper
10 distant peep sp.
5 Sanderling

Good Birding

Jeff
