White wing Scoter

Sharon picked through a pretty good sized flock of Lesser Scaup sitting
on the fresh water (Mullet Pond) side of the causeway at Huntington
Beach S.P.- Horry Co. S.C., to find an Imm. White-Winged Scoter. It
separated from the Scaup and swam close enough to the platform we were
on so that we could see right through it's nostrils. It hung around for
at least 15 min. before taking flight ,heading north over the saltmarsh.
It's white wing patch was very visible as it headed for parts unknown.
