LAPLAND LONGSPURS have been seen in both Carolinas recently. On 10-31 a male
was at Huntington Beach SP (SC) behind the dunes at the dredge area. This
area produces longspurs somwhat regularly at the park. On 11-10 twelve to
fifteen LAPLAND LONGSPURS were present at Hooper Lane in Hendersonville, NC.
Other birds at Hooper Lane include LINCOLN'S SPARROW and BAIRD'S SANDPIPER on
11-10, and 22 SNOW GEESE on 11-12. For information on Henderson County, NC
birds call Wayne Forsythe at 828-697-6628 or e-mail wforsythe@a-o.com.
A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was in Henderson County, NC at the wastewater

CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRDS can be seen in NC right now. An adult male has been
visiting flowers in Orange County but may have departed. Call Ginger Travis

Castalia, NC just north of Rocky Mount. Call Sharon Funderburk at

Birders on the Outer Banks of NC can look for a ROSS'S GOOSE at North or
South Pond at Pea Island NWR, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER at the north end of
South Pond, and migrants such as VESPER SPARROW, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW,
NASHVILLE WARBLER at the old Coast Guard Station on the south side of Oregon
Inlet.
Alligator River NWR (NC) has proven to be reliable for LINCOLN'S SPARROWS the
last couple of years. One was seen 11-13 along Milltail Rd. at the refuge.
Fort Macon near Morehead City, NC also produces interesting migrants, usually
around the lawn that borders the fort. CLAY-COLORED SPARROWS and
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS have been seen most recently.
Thanks this week to John Fussell, Jeff lewis, Ezra Ellis, Simon Thompson,
