This afternoon from 2 pm to 3 pm I watched a flock of at least 11 Cave
Swallows flying over the east end of Ocean Isle Beach. They were foraging
over the intracoastal waterway and an adjacent housing development. The
Cave Swallows stayed together as a loose group but numerous Tree Swallows
were also in the area and would cruise through at times. To reach the area
turn right at the end of 904 on the island, go about two miles (taking the
right fork on the way as the road curves to the right) to a housing
development on the right side of the road.
