York County in South Carolina is turning out to be a hotbed of winter
vagrant hummingbirds.
Today (20 December 2002) I traveled from Hilton Pond Center for
Piedmont Natural History in York to nearby Smyrna to capture and band
a hatch-year female Rufous Hummingbird that has been coming to a
feeder regularly since perhaps early October.
