It's unusual NOT to see American Robins at this time of year. For
example on Chapel Hill Christmas Bird Counts, they're our fourth most
abundant bird, after White-throated Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, and
European Starling. There are about 2.5 times as many here on the
Christmas as on spring counts. In the far north they're often thought of
as heralds of spring; we get the birds escaping the cold winters of the
north.
