Re: Summerville Western Tanager seen Feb. 9

Carolinabirders,

After 3 unsuccessful tries this week, I finally saw the tanager today at
2:45. Cathy was with me, she spotted before I did! It was sunny and the
winter mature male plummage was very bright! The Hales were there and very
helpful. The tanager is usually seen on one of the 2 feeders in the driveway
and often perches in the Bradford pear just behind the fence adjacent to
these feeders.

Cathy and I were at the Holiday Inn at Folly Beach,SC
this AM and saw several flocks of Red Knot and one flock of about 25 Lesser
Scaup.

Good birding and thanks Bob Chinn for posting the tanager sighting,
Steve Compton
