Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association

Hi again,

Forgot to add this, and can't remember if I've posted about it before...
The Durham-based Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association has decided to start
leading seasonal bird walks at various locations in the watershed. Most
will probably take place at ECWA's preserve, aka Six Acre Wood (named
"Best Urban Jungle" by the Independent's 2002 Best of the Triangle issue).
The first one will be this coming Saturday (actually was this past Sunday
but was rained out) at an undeveloped stretch near NorthPointe Commons
where one ECWA member observed a River Otter two weeks ago. It will be
followed by a session of planting seeds of native prairie wildflowers on a
ridge on which the NPC developer has agreed not to build. For more
information, including the bird checklists for the preserve and the
watershed, see
http://www.ellerbecreek.org/
At least three Carolinabirders belong to ECWA now; membership is not
required to attend the walk, or to help plant the wildflower seeds, but it
would be nice...

Good birding,

Josh
