They do nest in some parts of the Carolinas, don't they? I've seen them at
the sod farm in Candor, NC (I forget its name now, haven't visited in a
while) in August. I assumed those to be breeding residents at the time,
though I suppose they could have been migrating south already by then, as
some shorebirds do...
