30 mins spent birding at mid-day today yielded:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 2 males
Red-tailed Hawk - 2
Bald Eagle - sub-adult in a Pond Pine
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - everywhere
White-eyed Vireo - several
Yellow-throated Vireo - 2 apparently on territories
N. Parula - several
Yellow-throated
Black-and-white
Prairie - a few
Prothonotary - one singing somewhat hesitantly, but singing none-the-less
(no Hooded or Swainson's yet)
Indigo Bunting
Am. Goldfinch
Chipping Sparrow
White-throated
Song
B-h Cowbird - flock of 15
E. Tiger Swallowtail - several
Black Swallowtail - one almost flew into the drive-thru window at Wendy's
Palamedes Swallowtail - numerous
Cloudless Sulphur - several
Little Yellow - 3 in one spot. cool...
Orange Sulphur/Sleepy Orange? - too far, too fast
Monarch - 2 nice to see 'em in spring this year.
Fetterbush, Highbush Blueberry, Tung-oil Tree, Horse Sugar, Coral
Honeysuckle, Carolina Jessamine, and a tiny DYC blooming. Blue-flag Iris
looks like it might start soon.
