The following are highlights of the 3 hour Sunday morning birdwalk at
Magnolia Plantation at 3550 Ashley River Road ( highway 61 ) northwest of
Charleston, SC led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.
April 6, 2003
52 species were seen and/or heard on a cloudy day. The most interesting
were; 75+ Anhingas many on nests, 6 Great Blue Herons, 80+ Great Egrets, 30
Snowy Egrets, 10 Cattle Egrets, 100+ Little Blue Herons, 7 Tri-colored
Herons, 5 Green Herons, 20 Black-crowned Night Herons, many of these herons
on nests with babies, 1 Gadwall, 1 First year Bald Eagle, 7 Black-necked
Stilts, 15 Least Terns, 2 Pileated Woodpeckers, 1 Hermit Thrush, 2 Parula
Warblers, 2 Yellow-throated
Warblers, 1 Pine Warbler, 1 Prothonotary Warbler, and 5 Common
