Caw Caw birdwalk



The following are highlights of the 3 hour Wednesday morning birdwalk at
Charleston County's Caw Caw Park on US highway 17 south in Ravenel, SC led
by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am. A small fee is charged. For more information

April 9, 2003

55 species were seen and/or heard on a cold wet day.  The most interesting
were; 1 Green Heron,  46 White Ibis, 10 Wood Ducks, 2 Green-winged Teal, 15
Blue-winged Teal, 2 Osprey's on nest, 2 adult and 2 baby Bald Eagles, 3
Red-shouldered Hawks, 40 Common Snipe, 8 Least terns, 1 adult Great Horned
Owl, 2 Barred Owls, 2 Northern Rough-winged Swallows, 8 Barn Swallows, 6
Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 10 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers nest, 6 Eastern Bluebirds
nests, 6 White-eyed Vireos nest, 12 Red-eyed Vireos, 10 Parula warblers, 15
Yellow-throated Warblers, 1 Black-and-white Warbler, 4 Prothonotary
Warblers, 8 Common Yellowthroats, 1 Hooded Warbler, 20 Savannah Sparrows,
and 1 Song Sparrow.
