G'town Cty peregrinations, 04-12-03

hi y'all,

Did a little birding in Georgetown Cty., SC today. Overnight, Great Crested
Flycatcher and Hooded Warbler arrived in a spot where neither had been seen
or heard 'til today. Nice.

Others noted:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - a few
Bald Eagle with nestling(s?)
Red-eyed Vireo
White-eyed "
Yellow-throated "
B-g Gnatcatcher - incredibly numerous
N. Parula
Yellow-throated
Pine
Prairie
Prothonotary
Yellow-rumped
Painted Bunting
Chippies
White-throated
Savannah
Willet - several, including a would-be Casanova whose intended was much less
interested in him than we were.
Spotted Sandpiper
Gr. Yellowlegs

A number of shorebirds from the Marsh Boardwalk at Huntington Beach State
Park this afternoon:
Willet
Gr. Yellowlegs
Lr. Yellowlegs
Black-bellied Plover - a couple with nearly completed molt.
Dunlin
Dowitcher
Semi-pal Sandpiper - 2
Clapper Rail - 1 seen, many heard

A sub-adult Bald Eagle over the marsh, cpl of Osprey, Forster's Tern (one in
breeding plumage perched on the boardwalk handrail.) Hermit Thrush at the
start of the Sandpiper Trail.
Alas, no Painted Bunting or Common Ground-dove at the Nature Center feeders.
Plenty of water all around.

Cheers,
gary
