Although it is somewhat short notice, Colleton county (including the always
fun, always birdy Bear Island and Donnelly WMA) is open for this Saturday's (10
May) North American Migration Count. Please contact me if you would like to
count in Colleton county for this year's NAMC.
In more local bird news, a Summer Tanager and several Great Crested Flycatchers
have apparently taken up residence in the somewhat ragged second-growth woods
behind the house, as has - of all things - a Worm-eating Warbler. True to
form, the Worm-eating is hanging out on the biggest, most heavily wooded hill
in the area and can be heard easily from the back porch. Now if only the Wood
Thrush heard late one afternoon had stayed...
