Late White-throated Sparrow at York SC

I netted and banded a male White-throated Sparrow today (27 May 2003) at Hilton Pond Center for Piedmont Natural History near York SC.

This is an extremely late spring record in the Carolinas and is 12 days later than my previous late date in 1992.

Post & Gauthreaux list five summer vagrant records for the species.

Happy Birding,
