Caw Caw birdwalk



The following are highlights of the 3 hour Saturday morning birdwalk at
Charleston County's Caw Caw Park on US highway 17 south in Ravenel, SC led
by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.  A small fee is charged.  For more information

May 31, 2003

57 species were seen and/or heard.  The most interesting were; 20 Anhingas,
1 Yellow-crowned Night Heron, 8 Wood Storks, 4 Mississippi Kites, 1
fledgling Bald Eagle, 2 Black-necked Stilts, 3 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 1 Wood
Thrush, 15 Parula Warblers, 6 Yellow-throated Warblers, 4 Prothonotary
Warblers, 10 Summer Tanagers, 2 Blue Grosbeaks, 1 Indigo Bunting, 3 Painted
Buntings, and 10 Orchard Orioles.

June 4, 2003

53 species were seen and/or heard on a rainy to cloudy day.  The most
interesting were; 1 Black-crowned Night Heron, 2 Swallow-tailed Kite, 1
Northern Harrier, 4 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 4 Pileated Woodpeckers, 4 Acadian
Flycatchers, 2 Willow Flycatchers ( 1 calling whit while sitting near a
nest ), 5 White-eyed Vireos, 8 Red-eyed Vireos, 20 Parula Warblers, 2
Yellow-throated Warblers, 5 Prothonotary Warblers, 3 Blue Grosbeaks, 2
Indigo Buntings, 1 Painted Bunting, and 10 Orchard Orioles.
