Hilton Pond 06/01/03 (Southern Magnolia)

It's been an interesting week at Hilton Pond. Not too many new birds banded, but lots of returnees, including a long-lost female Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

To top off the week, our cherished Southern Magnolia tree is in full bloom. For a photo essay about this "fairest flower of the south," please visit "This Week at Hilton Pond" for 1-7 June 2003 at http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek030601.html.

As always, there's a list of all birds banded and recaptured during the period, as well as a mug shot of a punk-rocker House Finch nestling.

Happy Nature Watching!
