There will be a Guided Bird Walk entitiled "Breeding Birds" on Sunday, June
29th from 9am - noon
Open to all ages
Cost: admission plus $5.00; free for Passholders
June is a time of frenzied activity for many of our resident birds & the
Park is very active at this time of year. Join local birder, Simon Thompson
on a walk through the woods as we point out our local Downy, Hairy &
Pileated Woodpeckers who should be noisily feeding their young. Both the
summer-resident Scarlet Tanagers, Wood Thrushes, Black-throated Green
Warblers should also be in evidence.
Meet at the elevator tunnel entrance at 9am.
Park Ornithologist Simon Thompson has been studying the birds of Chimney
Rock Park since 1989.
