S-tailed kites and hummers in Conway,SC

hi y'all,

it's nice to get home before dark. a storm front that blew thru the
neighborhood here yesterday evening brought a pair of Swallow-tailed kites
along with it. there's nothing to this flying thing; just stretch out your
hands and go anywhere the breeze takes ya...

Ruby-throated hummers appear to be having a good year here in SC's upper
coastal area. after last year's dismal showing, it's nice to see nearly
constant activity at the flowers and feeders. one particularly industrious
imm. male tries to keep the decks cleared of any winged interlopers in front
of the house; hummers, butterflies, dragonflies, bumblebees, wasps,
songbirds leaving the seed feeders. he doesn't care, he lives to chase.
he'll never gain enough mass to make it to Mexico at this rate.

several honorary birds this eve: Tiger, Black, Palamedes swallowtails, Am.
Lady, Cloudless Sulphur, Sleepy Orange, Pearl Crescent, Sliver-spotted,
Long-tailed,Whirlabout (mating,) Fiery and Ocola skippers.

ahhh, summer....gotta luv it.
