Monk Parakeets in Jedburg, SC

I saw a family of 5 Monk Parakeets in Jedburg, SC (NW of Summerville) on
Fri. Aug. 1. I am assuming they are a family because they are hanging
around one of their typical stick nests. For those interested in locating
them, I'll attempt to give adequate directions. From I-26 take the
Jedburg/Moncks Corner Exit. At the top of the ramp go west (away from
Moncks Corner). From Main St. in Summerville, go out Hwy. 78 toward Jedburg
for 5 or so mi. and look for the landmarks on your rt. I wasn't watching my
odometer so the mileage from both directions is loosely approximate.
When you get to the intersection with Hwy. 78 (Hess Sta. on corner and
flashing light), turn left. Go several miles and pass some industries.
Look for a yellow bldg. near the rd., which is being torn down, and beside
it is an electrical sub-station. The nest and birds are in the far
left-hand corner of the sub-station on the metal framework. You can pull
into the parking area beside the yellow bldg. On the other side of the
substation is a Phillips 66 store. While I was there for 10-15 minutes,
they flew back and forth from the nest area as a group and finally flew
across the rd. into some pines. They are very easy to see and HEAR!
